THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, June 9, 1898, supplement page 2, column 1. “HUSBAND – Philip Husband suddenly departed this life, June 2, 1898, at his home near Waukee, Iowa. Mr. Husband was born near Somerset, Pa., Dec. 14, 1819 and was 78 years 5 months and 14 days old. In 1842, he was married to Magdalene Freidline and to them was born a son and daughter, A. Husband, now of Des Moines, and Mrs. C. Laughhery of Maxwell. In 1869, Mr. Husband and family left their native state and came to Iowa, locating in the northwestern part of Polk county. In 1874, he removed to Dallas Center, Dallas County, and later to Waukee, where his days were ended. There is something peculiar in the fact that the kindred ties of this little family remained unbroken for fifty-six years and then the head of the family was the first to answer death’s summons. Although Mr. H. had been seriously affected at various periods in his lifetime he apparently was in usual health until a few hours before his death. He united with the Christian Church in early manhood, lived a devoted life, and patiently waited his Master’s call and while his bereaved companion and children keenly feel their loss, yet they mourn not as those who have no hope.”
