Last Rites Held For Mrs. Whitmore

Funeral services for Lulu G. Whitmore were held from the Nevada Methodist church Saturday at 2 p.m. with the pastor the Rev. James W. Dendler officiating assisted by the Rev. Vaughn Leaming.

Mrs. Harry Sutherland, soloist sang two songs, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Good Night and Good Morning." She was accompanied by Mrs. Norman Dobson at the organ.

The W.R.C., the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Sunday School class of which age deceased was a member, attended the funeral in a body, along with a host of friends and relatives.

The many floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. Lee Alexander, Mrs. L. R. Bassett, Mrs. Webb Wildman and Mrs. C. A. Ryan.

The casket bearers were Lee Alexander, Henry Beck, Lester Corbin, Wayne Huebner, Ben Severeide and Floyd Unwin.

Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Frank Whitmore, daughter of William and Lucy Field was born in Coles County, Illinois August 24th, 1886, and died at the Story County Hospital, Nevada, Iowa on July 17th, 1958, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Whitmore has been a resident of Story County for the past 45 years. On April 14th, 1949, she was married to Frank Whitmore at Adel, Iowa. She was a faithful and loyal member of the Nevada Methodist Church. The Woman's Relief Corp. and the Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. For nearly 30 years she served as a night operator in the Nevada Telephone office.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Frank Whitmore, are her daughter, Mrs. Charles Ostrich of Maxwell, and a son, Gerald Johnson of Ruthven. Five brothers and two sisters also survive: Charlie, Carl, and Hugo Field of California; Cliff Field of Anderson, Indiana, and Burth Field of Fort Dodge, Ia., Mrs. Lawrence Leaming of Woodward; and Mrs. Manning Howell of Iowa Falls. Ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive as do a host of friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Whitmore was preceded in death by her first husband, Nels Johnson in 1915, a son Elmo and a daughter, Winifred.

Field of Fort Dodge, the Rev. and Mrs. Vaughn Leaming of Fort Riley, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Krebs of Zearing, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kingsbury of Rochelle, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Nellie Hayes of Urbana, Ill., and Mrs. Bernard McMorris, Mr. Charles Field and Herman Field of California.

Friends from Ruthven, Mrs. J. G. Zielstra, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Zielstra and Mrs. George Dandy; from Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. Don Shaffer and Joe, Mrs. A. E.
