Services Held In Zearing For Mrs. Queen White

NEVADA--Funeral services for Mrs. Queen F. White, whose death occurred in Pomona, Calif. on July 2, 1958, were held from the Brouhard Funeral Home in Zearing Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. John Bartlett of the Zearing Christian Church officiating.

The many beautiful flowers were arranged by Esther and Margaret Hilleman of Nevada. Mrs. Norman C. Dobson, Nevada, was at the organ and Mrs. Cecil Henderson of Zearing sang "Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."

The casket bearers were Frank Vail, Harold Tipton, Manley Dakins, Clarence Bivens, Russell Golly and H. M. Vinsel.

Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.

Obituary

Queen F. White was born Dec. 18, 1881 near Zearing, Iowa, a daughter of John C. Burkhart and Anna Mary Albaugh Burkhart.

She attended school in Zearing, graduating in 1898 and also attended normal school in Nevada and Drake University. She taught in various Story county schools until her marriage in 1908 to Arthur Banks of Nevada.

From 1929 until November of 1945 she was in business as a beauty operator in the Circle Beauty Shop for a number of years. In 1945 she moved to California, residing most of the time in Pomona where she was living at the time of her death on July 2, 1958.

She was a member of the Christian church in Zearing an the Central Presbyterian church in Nevada. She was also a member of the Sorosis club and the Order of the Eastern Star.

In 1951 she received her certificate as a fifty-year member of the Eastern Star in which she had served as Worthy Matron of the Nevada Chapter, District Instructor and as an officer of the Grand Chapter.

She is survived by two daughters, Avis, Mrs. Vern Fender, and Mary Florence, Mrs. Merritt Neal and one grandson Michael Neal, all of Los Angeles, Calif. She also leaves several nephews and nieces among whom is Mrs. Elsie Voogd of Nevada.

Among those in attendance at the funeral services in Zearing from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Smith of Des Moines and their daughter Janet and her husband from Minburn; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smith of Omaha, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Voogd of Des Moines;

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ryan of Des Moines and her mother, Mrs. John Krajicek of Ames; M. M. Neal and sister, Mrs. Nancy Rizzuti of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dobson of Maxwell;

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mains and Mr. and Mrs. Hansel Christian of Colo; Miss Emelia Gandrup and Mrs. J. C. Jessen of Story City; Miss Beulah Stahlman of Fort Dodge; with many from Nevada and Zearing.

Arrangement in California

Due to the sudden death of Mrs. White in Pomona, Calif., during the absence of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Neal, who were on their way to Nevada, the funeral arrangements in California were made by Mrs. Blanche Albaugh, Pomona, a niece, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith, a nephew and his wife, of the deceased, in Los Angeles.

Following the funeral services in Zearing the Nevada O. E. S. served a coffee at Central Presbyterian church, Nevada for the family and friends.
