THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, February 22, 1912, page 1, column 1. “MRS. GEORGE HALLEY – Sarah Ray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Judiah Ray, was born in Indian Creek Township, Story County, Iowa, on December 28, 1853. She was reared in the County and was here married in March 1895**, to George Halley, who like herself, was a long time resident of the county. They made their home for a few years on their farm in Nevada Twp. But soon settle in Nevada, where they lived for the rest of their life. The trip south for her health was the first trip that she ever made out of the county of her birth, and her record is naturally that of a good woman who confined herself strictly to the duties of her home. She was the mother of two children, both girls and both now married: Clara, now Mrs. Chas. Ball, of Fairfield, and Nellie, now Mrs. Fred Shalley of Nevada. Besides her husband and daughters she is survived also by two brothers and one sister: Jacob Ray and Mrs. Clara Kurtz of Nevada; John Ray of Maxwell, Samuel Ray of Indianola, and Judiah Ray Jr. of Lake Crystal, Minnesota **Editorial note – 18 Mar 1875
