THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday, March 14, 1901, page 1, column 3. "DEATH OF MRS. HALLOCK - Iowa Center, Iowa, March 12, 1901 Editor Tribune: I received today the sad news of the death of my oldest sister, Mrs. Catherine Hallock, of Pottawattomie, Kansas, widow of Hymon Hallock, who preceded her four years ago to the spirit world. She died very suddenly on the 3d instant of dropsy of the heart and stomach. Mrs. Hallock was a consistent and a faithful member of the M. E. church ever since she was about seventeen years old. She was seventy-five years and six months old at the time of her death. She was born in the state of Maryland, was married in the state of Ohio and came to Story County, Iowa in 1856, and in the 70's moved to Pottawattomie, Kansas, where she died. Mother Hallock was the mother of seven boys and four girls. Two boys preceded her to the other world, one daughter at the age of ten years, the other boy died in the Union army at Cairo, Illinois from the measles, at the age of seventeen. The boys, who are living, are all married excepting the youngest son, who remained at home with his mother and one single son. The three married girls are living near the homestead. Henry Funk."
