BERNARD A. RASMUSSON

ROLAND--Funeral services were held at the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland on Saturday, Nov. 9, for Bernard A. Rasmusson, 83, who died Nov. 7 at the Story County Hospital in Nevada. The Rev. Everett N. Nelson officiated at the church services. Mrs. Harold Hovick and Mrs. Darrel Larson sang "In The Garden" and "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling." Interment was in the Roland Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Lynn Danielson, Morris Danielson, Richard Waugh, Jeffrey Rasmusson, Stanley Rasmusson and Raymond Rasmusson.

Life Sketch

Bernard Rasmusson was born on the Rasmusson farm six miles southeast of Roland, December 23, 1873, the son of Rasmus and Martha Rasmusson.

After his marriage to Laura Grimson [should be Bremsen] they moved to the farm east of his home farm. They were the parents of three children, Benford, Lyda and a son who died in infancy. They moved to Roland in 1929 and Mrs. Rasmusson died July 12 of that year.

Mr. Rasmusson had been a resident of Sunset Home in Story City for a number of years until recently when he entered the Gilmore Nursing home in Nevada.

Preceding him in death besides his wife and infant son were his parents, three brothers, Rasmus, George and Lewis and two sisters, Mrs. Richard Rierson and Mrs. John Danielson.

He is survived by his son, Benford of Collins, his daughter, Lyda of Ames, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
