REV. FRANK W. SUTTON

COLLINS--Funeral services were held in New London Monday afternoon for the Rev. Frank W. Sutton, former minister of the Christian church in Collins. Rev. Sutton died Friday morning at Mt. Pleasant where they were living. He was 83 years, six months and 15 days old.

He was the son of George and Ann Elizabeth Sutton and was born on a farm in Madison county, Illinois April 10, 1874. He received his education in the country school and took examinations and was permitted to teach in that county, which he did during the winter months. He went to teacher's college afterwards, from which he graduated. He later entered Eureka College in Eureka, Ill. This was one of the colleges started and carried on by the Christian churches. It was here that he prepared himself for the ministry and he preached his first sermon in Dane, Ill. on Nov. 4, 1900.

He later preached at Long Pont, Ill., Arlington, Iowa, North English, Iowa, Elliott, West Liberty, New London, Collins, Jefferson, Lake City, Washington and Mount Pleasant. He retired last October and was presented the minister's retirement pin.

It was while in North English that he met and married Winifred E. Campbell on May 11, 1910. They were the parents of one son George Wendell of Mt. Pleasant.

The fine brick church at North English was built during his pastorate there. He served the Christian church in Collins for two years.

Surviving him are his wife, son and three granddaughters.
