MRS. CONRAD E. ROD
ROLAND -- Funeral services for Mrs. Conrad Rod were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Erickson Funeral Home and at 2:00 p.m. at the Bergen Lutheran Church with the Rev. A. E. Nelson officiating.
Mrs. Irvin Thorson, Jewell, sang "Have Thine Own Way, Lord" at the funeral home. At the church service, Hannah An Olson, Jewell, sang "Softly and Tenderly" and the Bergen Ladies Triple Trio sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd", Mrs. Otto Hanson was the accompanist. Pall bearers were Invold Rod of Des Moines, Paul H. Rod, Ames, Myron Rod and Paul Larson, Story City and Gerhard Johnson, Roland, all nephews of Mrs. Rod, and Kent Ostrem of Ames, grandson. Interment was in the Roland cemetery.
Life Sketch
Mrs. Ethel May Rod (Brouhard) was born February 3, 1890 in Brooklyn, N. Y., the daughter of William and Emma Brouhard.
She died Oct. 23, 1957 at the age of 67 years at the Glendale Community Hospital in Glendale, Calif.
She was married to Conrad E. Rod, Oct. 6, 1915 at Woodhaven, Long Island, N. Y. They have lived in Roland for several years.
Mrs. Rod is survived by her husband and seven children Eleanor, Des Moines; Mrs. John E. (Ruth) Niess, Los Angeles; Mrs. L. (Abby) DeVere Ostem, Ames; Willard B., Roland; Mrs. Robert C. (Margaret) Brown, Pleasantville, and Marvin C., Decatur, Ill., and Mrs. David A. (Bessie) Lurry, Caruthersville, Mo., also one brother, Royal W. Brouhard of Orlando, Florida, and twelve grandchildren. All of the children and her brother attended the service.
