LEVI PAUL STERLING

ZEARING: Levi Paul Sterling, son of John C. and Minnie Jane Sterling, was born July 15, 1892, on a farm near Webster City, and passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 1957 at the Mercy Hospital, in Marshalltown, Iowa at the age of 65 years and 16 days.

He attended the Webster City schools and graduated with the class of 1914. He later attended Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa, where he took veterinary medicine and received his doctor's degree. Following his graduation in 1919 he returned to Webster City and was associated with the late Dr. A. C. Swanson.

In 1933 he moved to Zearing, Iowa, where he practiced until 1953. For the past four years he has been a governmental inspector.

Dr. Sterling is survived by his wife, Verna Eloise Sterling, one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Delores) Ladd of Webster City. There is also one granddaughter of whom he was very fond and proud, Miss Sally Ladd of Webster City. There are three sisters surviving, Mrs. Lucille Brock and Mrs. Irene McKee, both of Webster City and Mrs. Guy (Rachel) Mitchell of Worthington, Minn., one great nephew, Jim Chance, who had made his home with the Sterlings at Zearing; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Sam Sterling, one sister, Mrs. Martha Parker.

Dr. Sterling was a member of the Christian church at Zearing, and a member of the Masonic Lodge and the American Legion. He was a kind and friendly man who was always interested in the welfare of others. He will not only be missed by his immediate family but by those who knew him as an able conscientious worker in whatever task he undertook.
