ANNA BARGER LYON

CAMBRIDGE Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Lyon were held Saturday, August 3, 1957 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cambridge United Bible Church with Rev. LeRoy Sargent in charge. He was assisted by Rev. Frank Smith.

Music was in charge of Wendell Franklin, Marjorie Sargent, and Joann Lyon.

Casket bearers were nephews of the deceased.

Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Liberty Center.

Life Sketch

Anna Mabel Barger, daughter of William and Sarah Barger, was born Nov. 4, 1878 at Liberty Center, Iowa, in a log cabin south of town, and died Aug. 1, 1957 at her home near Cambridge, at the age of 78 yrs., 9 mo. and 4 days.

She was united in marriage to Harry L. Lyon on Jan. 31, 1902 and to this union were born two sons. The 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated 5 years ago.

About half of her life was lived in Warren County. The later years west of Des Moines and at Cambridge.

She has always been interested and active in Christian work, a special interest was taking boys into the home, who needed help, and raising them as her own family. Two that were with the family the longest time were Charles and Arthur Shapiro. She was a charter member of First Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines, Ia. and faithful attendant at Shipley Gospel Tabernacle as long as she was able.

She is survived by her husband, Harry; two sons, Keith and Eldon, five grandchildren; Joann, Merlin, Norman, Ronald and Barbara all of Cambridge. Three brothers, Will of Camas, Washington; Dan of Los Angeles, California; Oscar of Liberty Center, Iowa; Two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Summers of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Maude Nyswonger of Indianola, Iowa and many other relatives and a host of friends. Two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
