Last Rites Friday For Robert A. Davis
Funeral services for Robert A. Davis were held from the Nevada Methodist church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Dr. Raymond Shipman officiating.
Mrs. Norman Dobson, organist, played a number of hymns before and after the service.
The many beautiful flowers were arranged by Mrs. L. R. Bassett, Mrs. O. R. Solem and Mrs. W. A. Olson.
The casket bearers were George Heintz, M. J. Heusinkveld, C. T. Lock, W. A. Olson, O. R. Solem and Wm. Sylvester.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
Robert A. Davis, son of the William and Nellie Shook Davis was born Sept. 3, 1874, at Mendota, Ill., and died at the Story County Hospital Tuesday evening at 9:00 p. m. after suffering a stroke Monday afternoon
Bob was the oldest of a family of six boys and six girls. He was married to Catherine Gould of Goldfield May 12, 1897, and to this union as born two sons, Glenn Davis of Nevada and Neale Davis of Chicago, Ill., and one daughter who died in infancy.
After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Davis moved to Moss Point, Miss., where he was foreman in a lumber mill. In 1902 they came back to Goldfield for a short time and then moved to Nevada where he was manager of a lumber yard and cement block plant for a short time.
Mr. Davis went to work for the First National Bank of Nevada, later transferring to the Farmers Bank, working for this institution until the bank holiday closed all banks in 1933. During his employment in the banks and after the bank holiday he was city clerk in Nevada. He served continuously as Nevada city clerk from 1908 to 1951.
Mr. Davis was 82 years old, 11 months and 3 days of age at the time of his death. He was a member of the Methodist church, and also a member of Nevada Masonic Lodge No. 99.
Surviving are his wife Catherine Davis, his sons Glenn of Nevada and Neale of Chicago, Ill., one grandson, two great grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters.
