Landanger Funeral Rites Held In Zearing Church
ZEARING: Funeral services were held for Frank C. Landanger on Friday, Jan. 11 in Zearing E. U. B. church. Rev. D. D. Eller was in charge. He was assisted in the service by Rev. Walter Cerka of Cedar Rapids.
Brouhard Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.
Obituary
Frank C. Landanger, son of Eucher and Marie Landanger, was born Jan. 13, 1882 at Lyons, France and died Jan. 7, 1957 at the age of 74 years, 11 month and 25 day, at the Story County Hospital, Nevada.
Mr. Landanger came to the United States when 7 months old. His family settled on a farm near Red Oak. Here Uncle Frank, or Unc as he was better known, grew to manhood, where he took care of his parents in the declining years until 1943. In 1937 he moved to McAllen, Texas, returning to Iowa in 1941, where he made his home one year with his sister, Mrs. Mae Robeson near Zearing. For the past 15 years his home has been with his niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Gildersleeve of Zearing.
For many years he was staunch and willing worker in the Evangelical church and Elks lodge of Red Oak. He leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Snowden of Harlingen, Tex. and Mrs. Mae Robeson of Zearing; one brother, Jules Landanger of Carroll, Neb., eight nieces and nephews, 29 great great nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
