Obituaries
Howard Otto Mosebach
Oct. 23, 1911, to March 12, 2003Howard Otto Mosebach, 81, of East Moline, Ill., and formerly of Nevada, died Wednesday, March 12, at Forest Hill Health and Rehab Center in East Moline, Ill., where he had been a resident since 2000.
He was born Oct. 23, 1911, in Sheldahl to Otto and Anna (Shonhorst) Mosebach. He attended Sheldahl school. He married Alvina Dueland on Nov. 24, 1938, in Nevada. He had farmed in Story Count until 1968 and retired in 1984, as manager of the Holiday Station in Nevada. He was a longtime member of Memorial Lutheran Church and longtime member of the Story County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed his many friends and neighbors, especially his close neighbors, Steve and Marilyn Shrum and their family. After a major surgery, he moved to Illinois to be cared for by his daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Muck of Coal Valley, Ill., three grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Mencom, of Chicago, Ill., two half-brothers, August Nelson of Maxwell and Raymond Nelson of Saint Anthony; and a step-sister, Alice Cook of Cambridge.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alvina on Aug. 6, 1989; a grandson. Michael Robinson on Aug. 28, 1994; a sister, Lydia Moore and a brother, Eddie Mosebach.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating. Private burial of the cremains was held in the Sheldahl Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established and may be directed to the family at 214 E. Fifth St., Coal Valley, Ill. 61340. Chet Ryan Mortuary, Nevada, handled arrangements.
