Funeral Services for Mrs. Koehn

Special to the Journal.
Maxwell, Nov. 8 - The funeral services for Mrs. Chas. Koehn were held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. O. F. Stromeck, conducted by Rev. B. H. Guthrie of the Presbyterian church, assisted by Rev. J. Ivan LaFavre of Loring. Rev. LaFavre sang "God's Tomorrow" and a quartette composed of Clark John, Dale John, Rose Olinger and Earl Bowen sang "In the Garden" and "The End of the Road" with Mrs. Wm. Trotter at the piano.

The floral offerings were many and beautiful which shows the esteem in which she was held.

Pall bearers were S. G. Sherman, Fred Flickinger, Clayton Wickard, A. J. Cuff, C. B. French and C. R. Posten.

Burial was in the Maxwell cemetery by the side of her husband. All the children and grandchildren were in attendance at the funeral.

Marie Dorothy Hecht was born near Berlin, Germany, Oct. 28, 1856 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Hawkins, on the 78th birthday, Oct. 28, 1934.

She was married Jan. 25, 1879 to Chas. H. Koehn, who preceded her in death, March 25, 1930. Mr. and Mrs. Koehn with their daughter Martha came to the U. S. in 1882 settling at Van Horn, Iowa. Later, in November 1888, they came to Maxwell where they always made their home.

She leaves to mourn her departure three daughters, Mrs. W. A. Hawkins, Mrs. O. F. Strombeck and Mrs. V. D. Gamble of Maxwell, one son, Chas. Koehn, Jr. of Winona, Minn., four grandchildren, Adrian Wand, Marie E. Gamble, Raymond Charles and Lois E. Koehn. In early childhood she was confirmed in the German Lutheran church. She was a kind and loving mother, always considering the happiness of her family and others.
