Regester Funeral Thursday Afternoon

Funeral services for the late Claude A. Regester, whose tragic death at his home 602 Fourth street, occurred Monday, was held Thursday afternoon at the Seventh-day Adventist church, followed by interment in the Nevada cemetery.

The church was filled with relatives and friends gathered to pay a final tribute of earthly respect to the memory of the deceased and express their sympathy and condolence to the mourning wife and children.

Prayer was offered and an obituary given by Elder T. H. Jeys, scripture was read by Elder Fries, president of the Iowa conference S. D. A., while the sermon was preached by Elder Gant. Beautiful vocal numbers were rendered by Mr. Foreman and Mr. Arrasmith.

Mr. Regester had been a resident of Nevada for about 15 years, coming here first as an officer of the Iowa Book and Bible House and was connected with that office, as well as with the Iowa Seventhday Adventist conference headquarters.

Later, after withdrawing from his official connection with those groups he entered with into various business endeavors and was quite well known in the city.

He leaves as his immediate family his wife and three children. The children are Luverne and Willard the sons and Alpha the daughter.

The following obituary was prepared and read at the funeral by the local pastor, Elder T. H Jayes:

"Claude A. Regester was born at Broughton, Kansas, September 12, 1890, and died at Nevada, Iowa, February 5, 1934. June 1, 1916, he was married to Opal Nickel at Moline, Ill. To this union there were born three children, Luverne, Altha and Willard.

"Mr. Regester came to Nevada in 1918 and was at first employed in the office of the Iowa Conference of Seventh-day Adventists as stenographer Later he accepted the responsibilities of secretary for the Iowa Book and Bible house. This position he held for a number of years with credit to himself and satisfaction to this employers. Later he was in private business.

"Besides his wife and children there remain to mourn his loss his mother of Salina, Kan., three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Gilman of Olive View, Cal., Mrs. Edna Hare of Clay Center, Kan., Mrs. Carrie Davis of Clay Center, Kan., three brothers, Harry Regester of Stockton, Kan., Edgar Regester of Clay Center, Kan., Roy Regester of Chicago, Ill., all his brethren of the Nevada Seventh-day Adventist church, and a host of neighbors and friends."
