THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE Maxwell, Story County, Iowa, Thursday August 14, 1913, page 1. "DEATH OF LINFORD FISHER - Linford Fisher, a resident of Iowa since 1866, died at his home, 1351 East Grand avenue, Des Moines, last night of paresis, after an illness of two years. Mr. Fisher was born at Bolivar, Ohio, December 2, 1846, and enlisted in Company D, Twenty-fifth Ohio regiment, serving three years in the Civil War. He removed to Iowa in 1866, and settled on a farm, twenty-five miles northeast of Des Moines. Twenty-six years ago he came to Des Moines and engaged in the banking business. He was a member of the Masonic order, of Kinsman post, G. A. R., and of the Evangelical church. He leaves a wife, a son, George W. Fisher, cashier of the Adams Express company in Des Moines, a daughter, Mrs. Sid R. Clift, of Des Moines, and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon under the auspices of Kinsman post, assisted by Rev. A. A. Couser, of the Evangelical church. Interment will be at Woodland cemetery - REGISTER & LEADER, August 12th. Mr. Fisher formerly resided near Loring and was a brother-in-law of Mesdames John and David Garlock, and father of Mrs. Sid R. Clift. He was well known by the older residents of Maxwell and the news of his death, though not unexpected, is received by his relatives and acquaintances in this vicinity with extreme sorrow."
