Ex-resident of Colo, Maxwell dies in Calif.

Durwood C. Berns of 7929 Cleon Ave., Sun Valley, Calif. died Thursday, Nov. 12, after an illness of six months.

Born on Sept. 23, 1911 in Des Moines Berns grew up in the Colo and Maxwell communities. On Aug. 30, 1930, he was married to Miss Lillian Larson of the Nevada community. He was a resident of Nevada for many years before moving to California in 1942.

Survivors are his wife, Lillian; a son Jack and a daughter, Mrs. Yvonne Gentry, all of California and five grandchildren Three sisters, Mrs. R. R. Pritchard and Mrs. M. F. Ohlweiler of Nevada and Mrs. Walter Schmellik of Colo, also survive.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, in California.

Mrs. Berns is a sister of Mrs. Arlo McAtee of Nevada.
