Felled by coronary after celebrating anniversary

Vernon H. Pruter, a longtime Nevada businessman, died en route to the hospital Sunday afternoon, just 24 hours after celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Pruter, 76, had been honored, with his wife Helen, on Saturday. Friends and relatives had crowded their home at 704 8th Street to wish them well at an open house and dinner.

Hosts at the open house were his nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Perkins of Marshalltown, and her nephews, the Fred and Herbert Schneiders of Chicago.

Sunday afternoon, 24 hours later, Pruter suffered a coronary attack at his home. He recovered sufficiently from the first attack to leave the house and get to Marley Lobaugh's car to go to the hospital. He apparently experienced a second attack en route to the hospital and was dead on arrival.
