HIGHLY RESPECTED LADY PASSES AWAY

Mrs. Ingebrit Eggland Died Last Mondsay Morning, After a Lingering Illness. Funeral Held Monday.

Mrs. Julia Eggland was born in Olen Norway on the 5th of February, 1843 and passed away at her home in this city Saturday morning June 28, 1913 having then attained the age of 70 years 4 months and 23 days. In July of the year 1866 she together with others immigrated to this country. On March 17, four years later, she was united in marriage to Mr. Ingebrit Eggland. Sortly after this event they took up their abode on their farm south of town where they continued to labor until August of the year 1902 when they moved to their present home in Roland.

Just with the awakening life of a new day she went to sleep like a tired child. It was just as the birds caroled the coming of the morning and just as the rosy fingers of the orb of day tinted the eastern sky with the sheen of glory. Surely the most fitting time of a pure spirit to take its flight heavenward. With the eye of faith one could see at the dawn of the memorable June day an invisible hand wave a signal, and a voice in softest accent on the morning breeze, announce that the gates were open and that God's angels were awaiting to escort her in.

After a long and busy life she died as she had lived honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was completed if work done and well done constitutes completion. Her christian life was beautiful from its beginning to its close, and through all the trials and sorrows that she met in the way, her faith in God never wavered.

In the presence of such a sorrow, how cold the impotent are words and how doubly deep would be the grief over the grave did not the rainbow of Christian hope span the dark gulf between time and eternity, and such pure lives inspire the belief that there is a better world beyond, where filled from the consuming cares of earth the good and true are reunited "after life's fitful fever."

She leaves to mourn her death a sorrowing husband; five sons; Osmond, Albert, Sam, Adolf and Martin; two daughters, Malinda and Julia, (Mary having preceded her mother to the other shore); two sisters, Mrs. Oliver Thompson of Radcliffe; Mrs. Siri Thompson of McCallsburg and one brother Sam Simons who lives in Norway, besides a host of relatives and friends.

The funeral was held last Monday at the Salems Lutheran Church. Rev. J. N. Sandven conducted the services and a large concourse of neighbors and friends gathered to pay their last respects to the departed one. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery.
