Funeral Services Held Wednesday For Mrs. Mary Dobbe

Huxley, Oct. 2 -- Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Dobbe were held at 1:30 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 26, from the Ovid Loucks home near Slater, and at two o'clcok at the Palestine Lutheran church near Huxley. The funeral was conducted by Rev. H. E. Jacobson. Before the services Walter Christopher sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul." He was accompanied on the organ by Miss Brendeland, who furnished music for the services.

The obituary was read by Rev. Jacobson. Walter Christopher sang "Sunrise Tomorrow." Pallbearers were E. B. Tweedt of Sheldahl, Lars Kalvik of Jewell, Fred Anderson of Boone, Ole Fjelland of Huxley, and Omer Westre of Jewell.

Many Friends and relatives came to pay the last trbute of respect. Besides the many beautiful floral offerings, many gifts to various missions were given in her memory. Burial was made at the Palestine cemetery beside the husband, who passed away almost seventeen years ago.

Mary Tweedt, daughter of Knudt and Martha Tweedt, was born in Olen, Etna, Fjelberg's Prestegjeld, Norway, June 18th, 1859.

Her uncle, John Severson, came from America for the express purpose of taking his widowed sister's family from Norway to America. His death occurred while enroute back and burial was made in England. The family traveled on alone and arrived in America June 9, 177.

In March, 1885, she was united in marriage to Andrew L. Dobbe by Reverend Holm at the home of Halvor Dobbe.

They established their home in Emmet county and lived there until the year 1903, at which time they came to Story county.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Norway and remained an active member until the time of her death.

Those who remain to revere her memory are six daughters, Mrs. Minnie Loucks of near Slater, Mrs. Isabelle Larson and Mrs. Carrie Hendricks of Huxley, Mrs. Hattie Hemphill of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mrs. Mable Potter of Bennockburn, Ill., Mrs. Lillian Way of Pasadena, Calif., one son, Martin Dobbe of Butterfield, Minn., one brother, S. W. Tweedt, fifteen grand children and eleven great grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, husband, one son, Lewis, two sisters and one brother.

She passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Minnie Loucks of Slater, Iowa on September 10, 1945, at the age of 86 years, after an illness of almost six weeks.
