Obituary

Bessie Elizabeth Bartlett was born in Illinois November 15, 1880 and departed this life July 22, 1946 at the age of 65 years, 8 months and 7 days, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Donald Dunahoo, north of Colo. She had been in failing health for some time and was confined to her bed during the week before her death.

She was united in marriage in September, 1899 to Fred Troutner who preceded her in death. To this union were born 10 children, one son, Vernon, dying in infancy. She leaves to mourn her passing, 4 sons--Roy, of Marshalltown, Earl, of Davenport, Floyd and Sidney of Colo; and five daughters--Mrs. Russel Schuler and Mrs. Donald Dunahoo of Colo, Mrs. Wilbur Myers, Mrs. Harold Fines and Mrs. Gearold Gibbs, all of Nevada. There also remain 2 step-sons, John and George Troutner, both of Colo, 1 sister, Mrs. Orland Whitmore of Bangor, Iowa, 22 grand children and 4 great grand children, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends.

At the age of 8, she came to Iowa with her family, settling near Colo where she had lived until her death. She will long be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, a helpful neighbor and a faithful Christian, and the vacancy caused by her passing will not be easily filled.

Interment was in the Colo cemetery.

Mrs. Troutner had recently purchased a home in Colo, that she had looked forward to occupying with great anticipation, but was not privileged to enjoy it, before death called her to her eternal home.
