Funeral Services for Clara Pearl Evans, Collins U. B. Church

Funeral services for Cleora Pearl Evans, wife of the late William E. Evans, who died at the Ruth Gracon Nursing home in Des Moines, August 14, were held at the United Brethren church Saturday Aug. 17 afternoon at 2:00 with the Rev. Will Stevens nd the Rev. Paul Varce in charge. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. K. W. Tomlinson, Miss Calla Wood, Ned Stuntz and Tom Huntronds with Mrs. Hugh Fertig at the piano. They sang three songs "Old Rugged Cross", "In the Garden" and "Face to Face." The floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. Dale Huffaker and Mrs. Bradford Stevens.

Interment was in Evergreen cemetery Collins, with Dale Huffaker, Merle Brown, Bradford Stevens, S. Huffaker, Don Wilson and Noah Wyatt acting as pallbearers. The following obituary was read by the pastor.

Cleora Pearl Van Voltinbergh, daughter of Lizzie and Lamon Van Voltinbergh was born at Wyoming, Ia. Oct. 6, 1889, and passed away in Ruth Gracon home in Des Moines, Aug. 14, 1946, at the age of 66 years, 10 mo. and 8 days.

She was the second child in a family of four. One sister, Myrtle Sanders and her mother and father preceded her in death.

Two brothers survive, Herbert Van Voltinbergh of Mitchelville, and Bob Van Voltinberg of Manchester, also a niece Cleora Beal of Minneapolis, Minn. and a nephew Lamon Sanders of Marengo, Ia. She was united in marriage to William E. Evans Nov. 27, 1902 and to this union two children were born both dying in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 7, 1945. Since then Clio had been bedfast at the home of her niece, Mrs. Francis Butler, of Colfax until three weeks ago, when she was taken to Ruth Gracon's Nursing home in Des Moines.

She joined the Methodist church at Rhodes when but a girl and remained a true Christian all through her life. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was a patient sufferer always thinking of the welfare of others. She leaves to mourn her passing Maye Dell Butler to whom she had been a kind, loving mother since she entered their home at the age of six years; a granddaughter Elaine Butler, two brothers and a host of friends.
