She had suffered considerably during those two weeks, but when death came she passed away as though going into a natural sleep. The cause of her death was heart failure.

She grew to womanhood in the community whre she was born and on May 28, 1870 was married to Sam O. Hegland, who had returned from service in the war a few years previous. Immediately after their marriage they moved to Story County, Iowa, settling on a farm, now owned by H. H. Lura, southwest of here. They later purchased a farm in Milford township, where the lived until 1898, when the buildt a home just outside the corporation limits of town, where they have since l ived. The deceased had been failing for several years, but kept up her courage at all times, never complaining, and on her death bed, felt content to enter her reward, surrounded as she was by her husband and children. Together with her husband, she helped to organize the Bergen Norwegian Lutheran congregation and she was always a faithful member of the same, aiding in such ways as she was able, liberally giving to missionary, charitable and educational interests of the church, and her death will be a source of regret to her many co-workers. She was 59 years, 8 months and 4 days old at the time of her death.

The funeral was held from Bergen church on Tuesday afternoon, her pastor, Rev. G. Smedal preachiing the funeral sermon. The church was filled to it's utmost with relatives and other friends, who wished to pay their last respect to the deceased. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Helvig of Sisseton, S. D. and Mrs. Chas. Hegland were unable to be here for the funeral on account of sickness.

Among those from a distance in attendance at the funeral can be mentioned Mr. and Mrs. Joe Oswood, of Morris, Ill., and Mrs. L. R. Larson, of Story City, Messrs Tom Edmunds and Eric T. Larson, of Clay Center, Kans.

The Record will join the many friends of the bereaved family in extending to them sincere sympathy in the hour of the deep loss.
