Funeral Services Held in Maxwell For Jacob Harter
Maxwell, Nov. 4 -- Funeral services for Jacob Harter, 72, were Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Cooper funeral chapel with the Rev. Stanley Mahannah officiating. The following obituary was read at the funeral service.
"Jacob Harter, son of George and Adeline Harter, was born near Mingo in Jasper county, Iowa, July 28, 1874, and passed away at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on October 25, 1946, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 28 days. He leaves to mourn his passing two daughters, Mrs. Dale Cortner and Miss Geraldine Harter, of Burbank, Calif., two brothers, John of Fort Dodge and Almon of Chico, Calif., one sister, Mrs. Clarissa Warner of Maxwell, several nieces and nephews. He worked at the carpenter trade most of his life, the last three years had been spent with a wholesale paper company in Los Angeles, Calif.
"As his health failed, he returned to the home of his sister in Maxwell, about two months ago. The last seven weeks he had been continued to the hospital where he suffered greatly until death called. He was always cheerful, a friend to all who knew him, and will be missed by his associates and friends. Burial was in the Graham cemetery near Mingo.
