Last Rites For Chas. H. Tett On Thursday

Funeral services for Chas. H. Tett, who died at hi home in Nevada Monday, March 8, were held from the Nevada Methodist church Thursday afternoon with the Reverend O. E. Cooley officiating.

Two solos "Whispering Hope" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung by Mrs. Ray Lounsberry. Mrs. Norman C. Dobson was at the organ.

The I.O.O.F. burial service was conducted at the church with Robert Campbell officiating as Noble Grand and Rev. C. E. Lookingbill, as chaplain.

The casket bearers were all member of the Odd Fellows lodge Guy French, Alfred Hanson, C. S. Toot, Henry Beck, Wm. Farrington and John Wycoff. Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

The following obituary was read at the funeral service by Reverend Cooley:

Charles Henry Tett, son of Frank J. and Emma Tett was born on a farm southwest of Zearing on Sept. 18, 1879, passed away at his home in Nevada, Iowa on March 8, 1948.

Mr. Tett moved with his parents in early manhood to farm east of McCallsburg. On Feb. 22, 1905 he was married to Clara D. Platt of near Emmetsburg. To this union one son Everett Chas. was born.

Mr. and Mrs. Tett lived their entire life in Story county. Three years ago this spring they moved to Nevada and since that time Mr. Tett has been employed at various jobs in the community.

Besides his wife who survives him, Mr. Tett leaves one son Everett Chas. Also a sister, Miss Cleo Tett of McCallsburg. Two brothers, Wm. Tett of McCallsburg, and Frank Tett of Zearing.

For a great many year Mr. and Mrs. Tett were members of the Methodist church at Zearing. When they came to Nevada they united with the Nevada Methodist church.

Mr. Tett was also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows holding the office of Chaplain in the local lodge at the time of his death. He was also a member of the Order of the Rebekahs.

Mr. Tett's death followed a short illness and he was active until just a few days before his death.

Among the relatives from out of town in attendance at the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tett and Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Tett of Zearing, Mr. and Ms. William Tett and Harlan Tett and family of McCallsburg, Virgil Platt and family of Zearing, Tom Carver and Mrs. Gwendolin Rice of Collins, Mra. Anna Menzel and Sarah of McCallsburg, Lester Menzel and wife and Earl Menzel and wife of Zearing, Winnie, Russell and Clifton Carver of Zearing. Nevada relatives included Mrs. Mittie Platt, Mrs. Wm. Stevenson, Mrs. Oscar Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Menzel.

Friends from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Leon Deal, Lloyd Perry, Mrs. Eloise Sterling, Mrs. Ruby Herndon, Mrs. Alice Culbertson, Mrs. Dorothy Vallum, Ray Keopple, Charles Maliet, Mrs. Minnie Klespie, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Klespie and Mrs. Leafa Grandy all of Zearing, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Singer of Graettinger and Catherine Craig of McCallsburg, Mrs. Joy Fausch of Slater, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Kaltenhouser of Roland and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Kaltenhouser of Ames.
