Final Rites at Zearing For Mrs. Mary Pulley

Funeral services for Mary E. Pulley were held on Wednesday, Sept. 22, in the Bethel Evangelical U. B. church in Zearing with the Rev. C. L. Fuller in charge and Rev. R. A. Dennart assisting.

The casket bearers were Ray Keopple, Ross Holveck, Arthur Couser, Aaron Buffington, Elmo Johnson and I. S. Madison.

Mrs. Ida Maliet and Mrs. Mildred Tillotson took care of the flowers.

The music was furnished by Mrs. Vera Cook, Mrs. Mildred Tillotson, Glenn McBride and Rev. R. A. Dennart.

Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Pulley, daughter of Bernard and Caroline Laughran was born in Jo Davis county, Illinois, on January 22, 1861, and died in the St. Thomas Mercy hospital in Marshalltown Sept. 19, 1948, at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 27 days.

She grew to womanhood in Illinois and was united in marriage to Joseph S. Pulley on February 24, 1881, and moved to Grundy county, where they resided until 1886.

After living in Pocahontas county until 1911, they moved to Palmer, Iowa, where they lived for two years before coming to Zearing.

To this union four children were born: Roy of Zearing, Tana (Mrs. Paul Peterson) of Montezuma, Jay of Zearing and Lee who died in infancy.

Mrs. Pulley is also survived by one sister, Mrs. J. B. Reed of Elizabethtown, Ill., and two brothers William Laughran of Elizabeth, Ill., and James Laughran of Savanna, Ill., several grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was a member in good standing of the Bethel Evangelical U. B. church in Zearing and was the oldest member at the time of her death.

As a memorial to Mrs. Pulley, the Ladies Aid society gave money to missionary work.
