THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Thursday, January 26, 1956 page 1; "OBITUARY - MRS. ROY (JENNIE) BELL. Mrs. Jennie Bell passed away at the Story County Hospital, Thursday morning, where she had been a patient. Surviving are her husband, Roy and son, Ralph of Des Moines. Funeral arrangements are pending."

THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Thursday, February 2, 1956, page 1, "Mrs. Roy Bell - Jenny May Whitney Bell, daughter of Clayton and Mary Whitney, was born on January 12, 1891 in Saybrook, Ill. She passed away at the Story County Hospital in Nevada January 26, 1956, at the age of 65 years and 14 days. Shortly after Jenny was born, she and her family moved to the Maxwell area, where she lived the remainder of her life. October 2, 1907, Jenny May Whitney and Roy Bell were united in marriage and to this union 3 boys were born: Howard, who died in infancy; Edwin who passed away last year, and Ralph, who lives in Des Moines. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Peoria Methodist Church, which she joined in her early youth. She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband, one son, two sisters, Ethel, Mrs. Jay Harmon of Maxwell, and Elsie, Mrs. Burt Bell of Des Moines, one brother, Carl of Nevada, one grandson, two great grandsons and a great multitude of friends and neighbors. Funeral was held, Sunday, Jan 29, 1956, from the Presbyterian church with Rev. Stanley Farmer officiating. Mrs. Alice Gooden sang Shadows and Beyond the Sunset, accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Ina Larsen. Six nephews acted as casket bearers, Wendall Whitney, Dean Whitney, Melvin Bell, Robert Byers, Howard Bell and Marvin Backus. Interment was in Peoria Cemetery." CARD OF THANKS "We wish to extend our sincere thanks to all our friends, neighbors and relatives for their comforting expressions of sympathy during our bereavement. We will always hold in grateful remembrance the flowers, cards, food and all acts of kindness shown us. Roy Bell and family."
