THE DES MOINES REGISTER, Des Moines, Iowa, October 19, 2001. "HOWARD BELL, Ankeny - Howard L. Bell, 85, of the 2000 block of Winter Park, Ankeny, died of pneumonia Tuesday at home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Mr. Bell was born in Maxwell and had lived in Des Moines before moving to Ankeny 16 years ago. He was a retired salesman with Standard Oil and a member of the Baptist Church. He enjoyed golf and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; a daughter, Diana Griffith of Ankeny; eight sons, Steven, Jack, Jerry, Ted, Michael, David, Paul and Terry, all of Des Moines; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Free Clinic in care of Dr. Nick Palmer, 1504 73rd St., Windsor Heights, IA 50311.
