Final Services For Mrs. Eva Wise, 70

Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Wise of Fernald were held Friday afternoon, Jan. 6, in the Fernald Church of the Brethren, in charge of the Rev. Ralph Skaggs of Marshalltown with Rev. Lee Dadisman of Fernald assisting.

The beautiful floral offerings were arranged by Mrs. Harold Baker and Mrs. Vance Harris. There were also a number of gifts for missions in her memory by relatives and friends.

Music was furnished by Miss Jean Hostettler. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hilburn sang "We Are Going Down the Valley, One by One" and "We'll Say Goodnight Here, But Good Morning up There", accompanied by Mrs. Picht.

The pall bearers were Charles Hostettler, Rex Needham, Harold Baker, Vance Harris, Virgil Jarboe and Ray Hostettler.

Interment was made in the Johnson's Grove cemetery.

Obituary

Eva Mable Wise, daughter of George and Nancy Fry, was born Oct. 25, 1879, on a farm near Johnsons Grove. She has resided in Story county all her life and passed away at her home in Fernald on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1950, with coronary thrombosis at the age of 70 years, two months and 11 days.

On Oct 26, she suffered a severe heart attack and was taken to the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, where she had a stroke on Nov. 8, which left her speechless and her right side paralyzed.

On Nov. 29, she was brought to her home by ambulance. Throughout her entire sickness she was cared for by her two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Gerlach and Mrs. Ruth Wise. During the five weeks at her home, she also enjoyed the companionship of her life-long friend, Mrs. Susie Eddy of Hampton, Iowa.

On Oct. 20, 1897, she was united in marriage to George Franklin Dumbauld at Nevada, who passed away Sept. 16, 1916. To this union four children were born, Blanche Mae, Myrl Franklin, George Lester, who died at the age of three years, and Ruth Marie.

On Oct 3, 1926, she was united in marriage to Elder D. W. Wise of Nevada, who passed away on Feb. 3, 1936.

Survivors

She leaves to mourn her death three children, Mrs. Wilbur Gerlach of Nevada, Myrl F. Dumbauld of Eldora and Mrs. J. A. Wise of Nevada; two sisters, Mrs. Millie Kindig of Elkhart and Mrs. Lettie Hankins of Fernald; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and five step children and their families, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
