Final Services For Henry J. Hemmingson

Funeral services for Henry J. Hemmingson, who passed away at his home in Huxley on Christmas morning, were held in the Fjeldberg church on Wednesday afternoon, following a short service at his home with the Rev. M. H. Rye officiating.

Music was furnished by a vocal trio, including Mrs. M. H. Rye, Mrs. Charles Ferguson and Mrs. E. D. Hall, who sang "Jesus Lover of My Soul" and Mrs. Selmer Westvold, who sang a favorite Norwegian hymn, "Den Store Hvide Flok." Mrs. Orland Fjeland was organist.

Pall bearers were E. D. Hall, Burton Fjelland, C. L. Hill, A. O. Wenos, O. B. Berhow and Weir Sydnes.

Burial was in the Fjelberg cemetery.

Obituary

H. J. Hemmingson was born Feb. 2, 1870, on the old Hemmingson homestead in Polk county and passed away on Christmas cay from a heart attack at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 23 days.

He was the son of John and Ingeborg Hemmingson, and was married on April 18, 1895, to Bertha Lande. They spent 26 years on farms, seven years in Sioux county and the remainder in Polk county. In 1920 they moved to Huxley and conducted the hardware business for 24 years before retiring.

He served the community in various capacities, as deacon and trustee of Fjeldberg church for many years and as a school board member and town councilman for 22 years.

Survivors

He is survived by his wife, Bertha, one sister, Mrs. T. P. Johnson (Stena) of Kelley; one brother, George of Madison, Minn., and a host of other relatives and friends.
