Funeral Services For Mrs. S. Johnson
Funeral services for Mrs. Stena Johnson were held at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church on Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. M. H. Rye officiating.
Mrs. M. H. Rye and Eugene Hoberkamp sang "Still Still With Thee" and Mrs. Nettie Kloster sang "Den Store Hvide Flok."
Pallbearers were six grandsons, Kenneth, Marlow, Stanley and Leo Okland, John and Clifford Birkestrand.
The body was taken to Hudson, So. Dak., where services were held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Lutheran Church there.
Burial was in Hudson cemetery.
Relatives from Huxley who attended the funeral at Hudson were Mr. and Mrs. John Okland, Leo and Dorothy, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hoe, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Birkestrand and Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Gregg.
Obituary
Stena Elizabeth Hemmingson, daughter of John and Ingeborg Hemmingson, was born September 4, 1862 on the Hemmingson farm, southeast of Huxley, and died May 13, 1954 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Okland, at the age of 91 years.
She was married on March 11, 1885 to Thomas Pierce Johnson. They moved to Sioux County, Ia., in 1886, where they lived on a farm near Ireton until 1916, when they moved to Hudson, So. Dak.
Eight children were born to this union, two of them passing away in infancy. One daughter, Gertrude (Mrs. Olaf Nordseth), who died in 1931.
Surviving are three sons, John T. and Ernest of Hawarden and Clarence of Canton, So. Dak. Two stand of Cambridge and Mrs. John Okland of Kelley; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death of March 27, 1923.
