Funeral of Hans George
Funeral services for Hans George, 86, whose death occurred at the home of his daughter here on Sunday were held from Bergen's church Tuesday afternoon, his pastor Rev. M. O. Sumstad in charge. Wednesday the body, accompanied by members of the family, was taken to Calamus for interment in the Kvinhered cemetery.
Hans George was born in Aarbake, Norway, September 28, 1835. At the age of twenty-two he came to America and made in home at Grundy County, Ill., where he was married to Anna Helvig, and their wedded life was blessed with nine children. Six of them are dead. After living in Grundy county for eight years he then moved to Clinton county, Iowa, where he bought eighty acres six miles southeast of Calamus. Two years ago his wife died at the age of eighty-two years and shortly after her death he moved to Roland to his daughter's, Mrs. John Helvig, where he made his home until his death, Dec. 18, 1921, having reached the age of eighty-six years, two months twenty days.
He leaves to mourn his death his daughter, Mrs. John Helvig of this place, and sons Eli and Martin George of Triumph, Minn., who were all at his bedside during his serious illness and death.
