OLD SETTLER PASSES AWAY

News Happening Reported From Zearing Vicinity.

Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Sept. 20.--Adam James Roberts of Zearing passed away at his home on the morning of Thursday, September 16, 1926, the cause of his death being pneumonia. He was born in Marion, Ohio, Feburary 24, 1841 and was 85 years, 6 months and 23 days of age at the time of his death. He came to Illinois Grove with his parents in 1855. He was married to Mary Graham at Tipton, Iowa about the year 1866. She passed away in 1916 at Marshalltown.

Mr. Roberts farmed at Illinois Grove until 1878 when he went to Nebraska where he farmed and was in the meat business. In 1894 he came to Zearing and lived two years, after which he returned to Zearing.

Mr. Roberts leaves to mourn his departure the following children: ---- S-----r of Oregon City, Ore.; Geo. B., Albey D., Henry L. and Mrs. May Hinecker of Zearing, Mrs. Dot Kersey of Marshalltown, Dr. L. L. Roberts of Chanute, Kansas. Quincy passed away in 1915. He also leaves -------- grandchildren.

Mr. Roberts was a regular church member. He attended both Christian and Evangelical churches of his home town. He loved very much to sing. He had a wrod for every one and townspeople will miss his hearty greetings which everyone received when passing his home. He always wore a smile and cheery disposition was a contribution to the life of the town. His loved ones and friends will greatly miss him. His last words were "Now I am going home."

The funeral was in charge of the two pastors, Revs. Trimble and Aurand of Zearing. The services was in the Evangelical church. Burial was made at Marshalltown Saturday, September 18.
