Last Rites For David S. Beckley Held In Nevada
Funeral services for David S. Beckley, resident of Nevada for eighty-five years, were held Thursday afternoon from the Ryan Funeral Home with the Rev. David W. Ash of the Nevada Methodist church officiating.
Fred McLain sang "Jesus Savior Pilot Me" and "Sweet Hour of Prayer", with Mrs. Norman C. Dobson at the organ.
The casket bearers were Stanley Ball, Ralph Cessna, Karl Cessna, Art Huebner, Phil Overbaugh and Sam Peterson.
Burial was in the Nevada cemetery.
Obituary
Mr. Beckley was born March 17, 1861 in Knox County, Ohio, a son of Lemuel and Dalilah Beckley, and passed away December 15, at his home 827 R avenue after a ten days illness.
He was married December 24, 1887 to Alena Jacobson, who with one son and seven daughters, survive him, his death being the first break in the family group.
Mr. Beckley has been one of Story County's fine citizens, and one who has seen the county grow and develop over a period of 85 years. It is such men as Mr. Beckley who have helped lay the foundation of the fine citizenry of which Nevada and Story county can well boast.
Surviving are the wife, Alena, one son, Roy Beckley and seven daughter, Odessa Riddlesbarger, Sadie Peterson, Alice Emde, Mabel Beckley, Beulah Peirce, Iva Lou Baum and Lyda Beckley. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. George Clawson, a number of grand children and great grandchildren.

Among the out of town relatives at the funeral were Mrs. George Clawson and son Kenneth of Cambridge, Mr. and Mrs. William Yungclas of Webster City, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Olson of Story City, Mrs. Alice Emde of St. Louis, Mo., Roy Beckley of Ladysmith, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Roy Peirce of Harrington, Ill. and Mrs. Ruby Tressler of Story City and others from Cambridge, Story City, Ames, Maxwell, Webster City and Rhodes.
