Funeral Services form Mrs. Clara Thomas Held in Cambridge

A beautiful impressive funeral service for Mrs. Clara Thomas was held in the Thomas home in Cambridge Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Leroy Weis, pastor of Wesley Methodist Church of Des Moines officiating. Prayer was offered by Rev. Leroy Sergeant pastor of her home church. Two songs were rendered by Mrs. Fay Nerness and Mrs. Dora Woods. Pallbearers were relatives Albert Fausch and Robert Graeber of Sheldahl; Albert Lehman and Glen Fausch of Slater; George Hildreth of Des Moines; and Rawland Hildreth of Huxley. Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery.

The following life story was read at the funeral service.

Clara Fausch, daughter of John Christian and Verana Neunswander Fausch, was born March 1, 1867 near Polk City, Iowa.

She was confirmed in the Reformed Church of Alleman, Iowa at the age of 13.

On August 9th, 1895 she was married to Chas. James Thomas of Shelby County, Iowa. They came to Cambridge after the wedding where Chas. Thomas had established a drug store, and here they have resided these past fifty years. To this union were born two children, a daughter and a son.

Clara Thomas was a member of the United Brethren Church of Cambridge and charter member and Past Worthy Matron of New Hope chapter Order of the Eastern Star, also a past president of the Woman's club.

While her health permitted she was very active in civic affairs and received much pleasure in caring for her home and flower garden.

She departed from this life early Sunday morning, May 6th, 1945 at the age of 78, her parents and one brother, Edward, having preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Charles, a daughter, Meda Tomlinson, and a son, Leslie; two brothers, John of Alleman and Dave of Ottawa, Kansas; five sisters, Anna Lehman of Slater, Ia., Rose Ringgenberg of Rochester, Minn., Lydia Reidesel of Windom, Minn., Lenore Weise of Des Moines, and Mae Dickensen of Portland, Oregon. In addition there are five grandsons, all serving in the United States Armed Forces, Chas. Edward, Leslie, Melvin, Paul and Rex Tomlinson; two granddaughters, Ruth Tomlinson and Dottie Thomas; also two great grandsons Chas. Edward, Jr., and Leslie Tomlinson of Sioux City, Ia.

Besides these she leaves many other relatives and host of friends.
