D., Milo Manning, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Manning, Robert Manning and Mrs. Ray Panstian and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hostetter all of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. John Goodenew, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Goodenow, Mrs. Lathy Kimball and daughter Mildred, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Goodenow, all of Battle Creek, Ia., Mrs. Austin Koch, Ida Grove; Mrs. Charles Warswick of Odebolt, Ray Goodenow of Racine, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Chester Raasch of Tracy, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Spender of Dunlap; Rev. and Mrs.. I. R. Mills of Adair; Dr. and Mrs. Gene Wolcott of Des Moines; Glen Olson of Iowa City and possibly others.

Florence M. Manning, daughter of Sylvester and Jennie McKee Manning, was born at Almena, in Norton county, Kansas on April 12, 1886, and passed away after a brief illness which climaxed a longer period of poor health, at the Deaconess hospital at Marshalltown, Iowa, on Tuesday, December 7 at the age of 51 years, 7 months and 26 days. She lost her mother when she was very young and went to live with her grandfather and grandmother Manning, in whose home she grew up to womanhood. Her school life and childhood days were spent in Sioux City, Sheldon and Battle Creek, Iowa.

On April 10, 1909, she was united in marriage to Dr. S. B. Goodenow at the home of her uncle, Milo Manning at Ames. The couple moved to Iowa City and made their home there where her husband taught for one year. They then came to Colo where a new home was made, and where she spent the rest of her life. Two children were born to this union, Ruth and Ray.

She was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church and a willing worker in its many organizations. She had been the church pianist for many years, and was on the music committee for even a greater number of years. She also belonged to the Easter Star and was a member of the B. F. and T. club.

She leaves behind her in the grief of their loss, her husband, Dr. S. B. Goodenow, her daughter Mrs. Chester Raasch of Tracy, Minn., and her son Ray of Racine, Wis., her uncle, Milo Manning of Ames, four half brothers Ralph and Bert Manning of Sioux City, Seth and Carl Manning of Canton, S. D., and a half sister Molly Manning of Sioux City, besides a great host of friends who knew her and love her, it being their common testimony that with her, these terms were synonimous. Mrs. Goodenow was always ready to help in the community in any way she could. Her home was the center of her world and through it she ministered both in deed and example to that world. She was gifted in many ways, and she shared her gifts to all. She used her musical talent in every way possible.

Her unassuming christian character has led an influence that time will not soon efface, and her lovely sense of humor even in the face of death was one of her finest contributions. Her faith was beautiful, her trust was large and she was not afraid.
