Marlys Anne Janvrin, 93, of Story City died September 5, 2019 at Bethany Life Communities in Story City. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 11 at 10:30 am at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Burial will follow in the Story City Cemetery.
Marlys was born on January 26, 1926 in Story City to Benford Walter and Maybelle Rose (Meinzer) Evenson. She graduated from in 1943 from Story City High School as valdictian and went to Electronic Radio and Television institute in Omaha for 3 months. Marlys worked on Ogden, Utah as a field teletype operator, in St. Louis as an IBM operator, at Marshall Canning Company in Roland, at Western Union in Ames, at Grace Evangelical United Brethen Church (later Grace United Methodist Church) as a secretary and retired from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program as secretary and bookkeeper.
Marlys married Filmore George Janvrin on November 1, 1953 in Story City at the Grace United Brethren Church. She and Filmore enjoyed traveling all across the United States; even visiting all 50 states. Marlys was a member of Grace United Methodist Church for 79 years, the American Legion Auxiliary, Story City Women’s Club, RSVP, United Methodist Women and Bartlet Book Club.
She is survived by her three sons, Barry, George and Scott; two granddaughters, Kimberly Anne (Kevin) Wright and Samantha Anne Janvrin.
Marlys was preceded in death by her husband Filmore on November 25, 1993; a grandson in 1974 and a daughter-in-law, Janice Louise Quillen Janvrin on June 6, 1995.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or Bethany Life Community.
