Patricia (Irish) Freeland, 88, of Des Moines, died at Calvin Community on Tuesday, Oct. 22 from respiratory failure.

She was born Nov. 23, 1913 to Carl and Ruth (Ree) Irish in Montour, Iowa. She graduated from Nevada High School and attended the University of Iowa. She married John N. Freeland on June 11, 1935 and moved to Des Moines in 1950 former Nevada. She was a homemaker and enjoyed family gatherings, flower gardening and family genealogy. She was a 50-year member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, a member of P.E.O. Chapter KD, Eastern Star, and Gamma Phi Beta.

Survivors include her husband, John, of Des Moines; a son, John C. Freeland, of West Des Moines; a daughter, Judith Peterson, of Apple Valley, Minn.; a brother, Richard Irish, of West Des Moines; a step-sister, Sue Squires, of Greenville, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

The body was cremated and there will be a private family burial at Nevada Cemetery at a later date.
