July 19, 1903, to Oct. 20, 2002

Lyda B. Ball, 99, of Independence, died Oct. 20 at Peoples Long Term Care in Independence following a short illness.

She was born July 19, 1903, in Cambridge to David S. and Alena Jacobson Beckley. She married William Franklin Ball on April 26, 1965, in Nevada. Before retiring, she had been a clerk at the Ben Franklin Store in Nevada. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a step-son, Russell (and Mary) Ball of Sterling, Alaska; a step-daughter, Ella (and Malcolm) Risk of Independence; and five step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, one brother and her husband, William, in 1987.

The body was cremated. Committal services will b hel at a later date in the Nevada Cemetery. White Funeral Home, Independence, is handling arrangements.
