Funeral Services For George Coughenour Held In Maxwell

MAXWELL -- Funeral services for George Coughenour were held Wednesday, February 4, at the Cooper-Moore funeral home in Maxwell with Rev. Hall officiating. Jean Mohler accompanied by Betty Porter sang two songs.

Mrs. Larry Dobson and Mrs. Nathan Vincent cared for the flowers.

Pall bearers were Cecil Kitchen, Theo Kitchen, Nathan Vincent, Grant Vincent, Larry Dobson and Verle McIntire.

Obituary

George Coughenour, son of Solomon and Margaret Coughenour, was born on September 5, 1877 and passed away at the Nevada Story County hospital on February 2, 1953, at the age of 75 years, four months and 27 days.

George lived all his life near Maxwell. He attended the Nevada schools and was a successful farmer near here for many years.

On October 11, 1899 he took as his wife and faithful lifetime partner, Miss Nellie Ray. To this family union were born three sons: Ray Coughenour of Collins, Ralph Coughenour (deceased) and Rollin Coughenour of Maxwell and one daughter: Mrs. Velda Cagwin of Nevada, Iowa.

Mr. Coughenour was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, John, Sam and Charley; two sisters, Jennie Cooper and Mattie Ray.

He leaves one brother, Fred of Collins, to mourn his passing in addition to his wife, two sons, Ray and Rollin, daughter Velda and many other relatives, neighbors and friends.
