FINLEY FUNERAL AT 2:00 THURSDAY
HAD BEEN RESIDENT OF STORY COUNTY SINCE 1865--DIED TUESDAY
William V. Finley, 67, died at his home at 1228 Fourth street, at an early hour Tuesday morning, after an illness of about five months, death being hastened by a stroke of paralysis that he suffered the latter part of the week.
The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 at Central Presbyterian church, after which interment will take place.
The one brother, Oscar, is expected here from his home at Salem, S. D., this evening. Mrs. Mary Booher, a sister, will not be able to get here from her home at Santa Ana for the funeral, but the sisters Mrs. Jerusha McConnell and Mrs. Effie Moran are here.
William V. Finley was born in Edgington, Ill., February 25, 1859. He came to Iowa with his parents, in October 1865 and grew to manhood on his father's farm four miles south of Nevada. He was married to Elsie Golden, March 27, 1884. their family consisted of two daughters; Mrs. Huldah Stebbins of south of Maxwell, who died May 28, 1926, and Mrs. Mary Reitz of Nevada.
After his marriage, Mr. Finley lived on his farm southeast of Nevada until 1913, his health failing he left the farm. Since that time, with the exception of a year spent in California and three years in the northern part of Iowa, ne has lived in Nevada.
William Finley was a kind husband, a good father and a helpful neighbor and friend.
He departed from this life, February 28, 1928. He leaves his wife, one daughter and eleven grand children.
Besides these he leaves one brother, Oscar Finley of Salem, S. D., and three sisters, they being: Mrs. Mary Booher of Santa Ana, and Mrs. Jerusha McConnell and Mrs. Effie Moran of this city.
