Martha Cole Dies At 92

Martha Alice Cole, 92, resident of Nelson Nursing Home, died at 7 p.m., Wednesday. She had been in failing health the past eight months.

Services will be Friday at 8 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Dorman officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Ames Cemetery at Ames.

Martha Alice Cole was born Nov. 26, 1885, at Brighton. She was the daughter of Charles and Alice Barnett Darnell.

She was reared and educated in Brighton, and later lived in Fairfield and Ames, returning to Fairfield in 1943. She was married to Gilbert Cole in March, 1903, at Veo.

Mrs. Cole was a member of the First Christian Church, OES, White Shrine, Rebekah Lodge, Pythian Sisters, Eastern Star Club and VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, C.G. Cole, Fairfield; and a daughter, Marion Groomes, Buckeye, Ariz.. Also four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Williams, Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Cole was preceded in death by one daughter.
