Funeral Services For Mrs. Lemuel Allen

Special to the Journal.
Slater, May 21--Funeral services for Mrs. Lemuel Allen were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and two o'clock at the Bethlehem church. The services were in charge of Rev. E. R. Rorem assisted by her former pastor, Rev. E. Duea of Dows. Both gave fine tributes to the departed friend. Many beautiful floral offerings surrounded the casket. The Ladies' Aid of the First Lutheran church at McGregor gave five dollars to the Missions in her memory. The Woman's Auxiliary of the Bethlehem church also gave a sum of money to the missions in her memory. A male quartette sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "Sometime We'll Understand" was sung by Miss Ruth Halverson. A woman's chorus sang, "My Faith Looks Up to Thee," "Heaven is My Home," a vocal solo by Miss Margaret Fritz and the song, "Near, Near to Thee" was sung by the mens chorus. The pall bearers were Ingvald Estem, Morton Nernes, Richard Sydnes, M. S. Heggen, O. B. Anderson and A. Maland, Mrs. Dave Fausch, Mrs. Ingvald Estrem, Mrs. Charley Ryen and Mrs. M. Nernes had charge of the flowers. Burial was in the city cemetery.

Agnes V. Hohman was born at McGregor, June 20, 1887. He parents were Frank and Emma Hohman. In 1906 she graduated with high honors from the McGregor high school. She was married to Lemuel Allen, August 24th, 1911. Two children, Dorothy and Anold were born to this union. They moved to farm north of Slater 11 years ago, where they made their home till this spring when they moved to a farm east of Slater. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Bethlehem church, the Woman's Auxiliary and W. C. T. U. She was also an active worker in the Palestine Farm Bureau, till her health failed. She was a friend to everyone and will be missed by all. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and children, her parents, two brothers, Harold Hohman of New Brunswick, New Jersey, Marion Hohman of McGregor and three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Christensen of Hurley, South Dakota, Mrs. Chas. Bayliss of Chippewa Falls, Wis. and Miss Genevieve Hohman of McGrefor. The deepest sympathy of the entire community is extended to Mr. Allen and family. About 60 relatives and friends from McGregor were in attendance at the funeral services.
