Helen E. Doehler, 79, of Ames, Iowa, passed away on the morning Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, IA with her loving family by her side.
Following Helen’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public services held at this time. Memorial contributions may be directed in Helen’s name to her family which will be later designated elsewhere. Helen Brown was born on July 26, 1939 in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Robinson) Brown. She was raised and educated in the Ironton School District, where she graduated from Ironton High Shool. Helen was united in marriage to John H. Doehler. From this union two daughters were born: Paula and Lora. Helen was a hardworking woman and enjoyed working with customers.
She always loved interacting with people and that is why she loved working in Retail. Helen worked for J.C. Penny’s for several years, Dominque’s, 7-11 gas station and loved working for the R.V. park in Texas, where she got to become friends with many different people over the years. Helen had a passion for cross stitching, crocheting, leading the Girl Scouts, shopping, being involved with the activity directors at Odd Fellows and she sure loved eating at Red Lobster on the endless shrimp nights.
Left to cherish her memory is her two daughters: Paula (Steve) Sprauge and Lora (Larry) Ward; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents: Ralph and Mary; and one brother: “Bud”
