OBITUARIES

Lyle E. Baumgardner

Lyle E. Baumgardner, 80, of Nevada died Sunday, Jan. 7, at Iowa Methodist Medical center in Des Moines of cancer.

He was born Nov. 19, 1909, to Allen J. and Mildred Baumgardner in McCallsburg.

He married Maxine Ayers June 23, 1940 in Nevada, where he lived most of his life. Baumgardner was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of Nevada, the Ames American Legion Post, Moose Lodge 520 in Ames, and was past president of the Nevada Rotary Club. He was also former owner of Lyle's clothing store in Nevada for about 50 years and served in the military during World War II.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Dennis Baumgardner of Nevada, one sister, Sina Hall of Nevada; and two grandchildren.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada while services were held Wednesday Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at Central Presbyterian Church.
