Mrs. Bertha Tegland Laid To Rest In Fairview Cemetery
STORY CITY -- Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Tegland, who passed way Jan. 15, at Story City Sunset home, were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 19 at the St. Petri Lutheran church at two o'clock. The Rev. Ocee Johnson officiated. A prayer service at 1:30 in the Sunset chapel preceded the church service. Mrs. Bertha Peterson sang a special number at the Sunset home, and soloist at the church service was Mrs. E. S. Ede, of Ft. Dodge.
Obituary
Bertha Nelson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tollef Nelson was born February 20, 1868 in Kendall county, Illinois.
She was united in marriage to Lars O. Tegland at Newark, Illinois on Sept. 14, 1891, and moved to a farm in Wright county. Later they moved to farm south of Story City where they spent most of their active years.
Following retirement they lived in Ames until Feb. 1, 1948, when Mr. Tegland passed away. The remaining days of her life were spent at the Sunset Home in Story City.
To this union six children were born -- four sons and two daughters, Omar of Ellsworth; Milford of San Francisco, Calif.; Alden of Los Angeles, Calif.; Edith (Mrs. Harold Byram) of East Lansing, Mich.; Mabel (Mrs. Loyd Schollmeyer) of 125 W. 13th street, Ames, and Rudolph of Oxnard, Calif.; also 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Mrs. Tegland was laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Story City. Pall bearers were: Alfred Jacobson, Theodore Jacobson, Walter Fossel, Harvey Jorgenson, Floyd Wakefield, C. C. Larson.
