From Nevada Journal September 13, 1960 (page 4)

Ruth Ellen Stanton, eldest daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Carver) Dickson, was born on a farm in Marshall county, west of State Center, November 28, 1877. She passed away at 9:00 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 1960 in St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 6 days.

When a very young girl, her family moved to a farm southwest of Collins where she grew to womanhood. It was in this farm home that she was united in marriage to Charles N. Stanton, Nov. 24, 1897. They spent their entire married life in and near Collins. Her husband preceded her in departing this life July 12, 1943.

She is survived by two sons, Truman E. Stanton of Center Junction and Joseph J. Stanton of Des Moines; one grandson, John J. Stanton of Maquoketa and one granddaughter, Mrs. Robert McCrae of Ft. Collins, Colorado; five great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. S. W. Inman of Collins; several nieces and nephews and a host of more distant relatives and friends. Her parents, a brother and infant sister also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Stanton had made her home with her two sons since her husband's death. She had been in failing health the past few months but was only hospitalized for a few days. She joined the Collins Methodist Church in 1894 and at the time of her death shared the distinction with one other of having been a member longer than any other members of the church.
