Carole Grace (Graber) Snyder (1934-2018)

Carole Grace Snyder was born September 30, 1934. She passed peacefully in Sandwich with her family by her side on Nov 6th, 2018 after a long illness.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard in 2006 and her sister Dona in 2010. She is survived by her sister Marilyn of Dalton, Ohio, her children Stacy and George Lugo of NYC, Damon and Jacqueline Snyder of Binghamton, NY and Leslie Long of Sandwich, and her grandchildren, Emma and Damon Snyder Jr. and Jared and Phoebe Long and their father Chris Long.

She was born in Dalton, Ohio to Floyd and Opal Graber and after graduating Dalton High School she attended Massillon City Hospital Nursing School and earned her R.N degree in June of 1955. She was married to Richard Snyder in 1957 and they spent 49 wonderful years together before he passed away in 2006. She raised three children in Ames, IA. Carole and Richard shared a fantastic life together traveling the world, going to Broadway shows, ballet and other arts performances. She was an active volunteer for Des Moines Ballet and Octagon Arts Center in Ames, IA and held several officer positions with both organizations. She was owner and publisher of the "Bulletin Board" a quarterly guide to Ames. Also, while in Ames, her favorite hobby was working with stained-glass, producing beautiful window panes and ornaments and selling them at local art fairs.

Later in 1988, when Carole and Dick moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, she was the marketing director for IAAM (International Association of Auditorium and Arena Managers) and in 2006 she was awarded by IAAM the President’s Award for" Outstanding Lifetime Contribution."

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in her honor to WMU (Western Michigan University) Foundation, Partners in Dance, 1903 West Michigan, Kalamazoo, MI 49008. Please note Carole Snyder on the donation.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, Dec. 28, 2018 at St John's Episcopal Church, 159 Main Street, Sandwich 02563 at 11 AM.
