Mrs. Wyatt Lyon Dies in Hospital At the Age of 81

Mrs. Wyatt Lyon, 81, 1204 K Ave., Nevada died early Monday at the Story County Hospital. She had been ill for the past year.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada. Rev. Frank Hladky will officiate and the burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.

The body will lie in state at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City until 7 a.m. Thursday. From 9 a.m. until the time of services the body will lie in state at the Nevada church.

Alda MacFarland, the daughter of Malcolm and Cora Lydia Wicks MacFarlan, was born September 23, 1885, on a farm two miles west of Webster City. She was educated in the Webster City community, taught school in Hamilton County and also several years in the public school of Webster City.

She was married August 3, 1911 to Wyatt Lyon. they farmed east of Webster City until 1925, moving to a farm near Blairsburg. In 1933 they moved to a Goldfield, Ia. farm and in 1938 purchased a farm near Nevada and lived there until their retirement in 1946.

She is survived by her husband, three sons and three daughters: Mrs. Howard Harvey of Goldfield, Harold of Nevada, Donald of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; Mrs. Harold Chase of Ames, Robert of Arlington Heights, Ill.; and Mrs. Ted Jones, temporarily living in Germany; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Annette Engstrom of Renwick.

She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, a 50 year member of the PEO, and the Daughters of Union Veterans.
