Mrs. W. E. New Laid to Rest Tuesday Afternoon

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Flora B. New, 82, 1212 Fourth street, widow of the late W. E. New, who passed away Sunday morning, June 1 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. T. Swanson, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the Ryan Funeral Home with Dr. J. O. Simon officiating.

Mrs. Norman Dobson, niece of the deceased, was at the organ playing "Lead Kindly Light" and "Abide with Me".

The many beautiful flowers were arranged by Mrs. Rose Stratton and Mrs. Leslie Toot.

The pall bearers were Lee Cook, Iver Cook, C. S. Swanson, Frank Gerlach, Harold Handsaker and I. W. Tudor. Committal was in the Nevada cemetery.

A beautiful tribute was paid to the fine Christian life of the decease by Dr. Simon who also brought comfort and solace to the bereaved.

Mrs. New was born in Knox county, Ill., Feb. 16, 1865, the oldest of six children born to Daniel E. and Ellen Markland. She was united in marriage to William E. New at Weston, Ill., Feb. 15, 1891. In December 1896, Mr. and Mrs. New came to Story county. Twenty-nine years ago they moved into Nevaa. Mr. New passed away Jan. 15, 1936.

The deceased is survived by two sons, Harry New and Clarence New and one daughter, Mrs. D. T. Swanson, all of Nevada. She also leaves one brother, C. E. Markland of Nevada, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren, three nieces in Illinois and two nieces at Nevada.

Her husband, he parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Here from Out of Town

Among those from a distance in attendance at the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. James Farley of Amboy, Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Stewart of Farmer City, Ill. (niece of the deceased and her husband), Herman Shedd of Boone and the granddaughter and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Granger of Tama.
